Here are our tips on how to hire the best contractor for your project.
Phone Interview
Interviewing 3-4 contractors is a good start in order to find one that fits your project’s aesthetics, budget and time frame. We suggest having a list of questions ready to ask so you can make an informed decision when the time comes. What is their time frame to start your project? Will they provide a detailed contract? Do they have references they can provide? Once you have your answers it’s time to meet face to face.
Meet and Greet
Meeting with a potential contractor is extremely important. They will be building your addition or home and should be just as excited about your project as you are. Communication is crucial. The contractor should be able to answer any further questions you might have to put your mind at ease about the process. We also suggest meeting with the contractor at one of their finished homes to see, in person, the work they do.
Get Pricing
The next step is to receive pricing from the contractors you’ve chosen. Comparing bids is an important step in order to make your final decision. We can help with breakdown of cost as well as answer any questions the contractors might have in regard to the design.
Go with Your Instinct
After talking, meeting and receiving pricing from the contractors of your choice it is time to make a decision. The relationship you will have with your builder is a close one; they will be building your addition or home which can take anywhere from months to a year. While pricing is important, it shouldn’t be the only reason navigating your decision - go with your instinct.
